Laptop Provisioning Checklist
Standard laptop setup checklist for IT teams — from imaging to deployment to user assignment.
Purpose
Every laptop deployed to an employee must be configured consistently and securely. This checklist ensures no step is missed during provisioning.
Pre-Provisioning
- Verify laptop matches approved specifications
- Record serial number and asset tag
- Create asset record in registry
Configuration
- Install standard OS image
- Apply all security patches and updates
- Install approved software suite
- Configure encryption (BitLocker/FileVault)
- Install antivirus and endpoint protection
- Configure VPN client
- Set up MFA enrollment
- Join to domain or MDM
Assignment
- Assign to user in asset registry
- Document accessories issued (charger, dock, peripherals)
- Get user acknowledgment signature
- Schedule 30-minute orientation session
