UPS Installation Checklist

Purpose
A UPS that is improperly installed may not protect your equipment when you need it most. This checklist ensures correct installation and testing.
Pre-Installation
- Verify UPS capacity matches load requirements
- Check room temperature (battery life reduces above 25°C)
- Ensure adequate ventilation around UPS
- Verify floor can support UPS weight
- Plan cable routing from UPS to equipment
Installation
- Place UPS in designated location
- Connect batteries (if shipped separately)
- Connect UPS to mains power
- Connect critical equipment to UPS outlets
- Verify battery charge level
- Configure UPS monitoring software
Testing
- Simulate power outage — verify UPS switches to battery
- Verify all connected equipment remains operational
- Test battery runtime under full load
- Verify automatic shutdown software works
- Document installation details and test results
