Purpose
A network diagram is essential for troubleshooting, onboarding new IT staff, and disaster recovery. This template provides a standardised format for documenting your network.
Elements to Document
- Internet connection: ISP, speed, static IP (if any)
- Firewall: Model, management IP, WAN/LAN interfaces
- Core switch: Model, ports, VLANs, uplink speed
- Access switches: Location, connected devices, PoE status
- WiFi access points: Location, SSIDs, coverage area
- Servers: Name, IP, role, OS
- Printers: Name, IP, location, shared name
- UPS: Location, capacity, connected equipment
